The US 20 project will make transportation through Elgin easier and safer for residents, commuters and visitors alike by renewing deteriorating pavement and addressing other roadway hazards.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is conducting an engineering study and environmental analysis of US 20 in Elgin. The US 20 project study area extends from west of Randall Road to east of Shales Parkway for a distance of approximately 6.8 miles. The area around the McLean Boulevard interchange is currently being reconstructed and is not included in this study.
IDOT’s project team is currently gathering data on existing roadway and bridge conditions along US 20. Some of this data will come from you. IDOT uses a process called Context Sensitive Solutions to engage the public.
The proposed project is anticipated to consist of roadway and bridge rehabilitation to improve safety and mobility along the corridor
